Areas of special interest/ experience include (but are not limited to):- Individual counselling for adults (18+) to facilitate adjustment to, and recovery from, significant life events, crises and life transitions.
- Anxiety disorders (e.g., Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder [PTSD], Panic, Generalised Anxiety Disorder [GAD], Social Anxiety, Phobias and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder [OCD]).
- Mood disorders (e.g., Depression, Bipolar Spectrum, Dysthymia, etc.).
- Trauma counselling (e.g., after vehicle accidents, or crime-related incidents such as hijackings, muggings, home invasions, robberies, etc.). Individual and group post-trauma counselling is offered.
- Loss and bereavement counselling.
- Recovery for "Adult Children" (adult survivors) of alcoholics and other dysfunctional families (ACA / “codependency”), with a focus on relationship difficulties and unhelpful relationship patterns (but excluding couple/ family counselling).
- Assistance with the management of adult Attention Deficit/ Hyperactivity Disorder (ADD/ ADHD).
- Career guidance assessment/counselling (including assistance with choice of subjects in high school).
- Employee Assistance Program (EAP) counselling.
- Relaxation training to manage stress and anxiety (various techniques).
- Personal growth counselling/ psychotherapy/ coaching/mentoring for students/ interns in the helping professions. Reduced rates available on request and proof of registration.
PLEASE NOTE:
While I do regularly work with clients in “individual counselling” on problems and difficulties concerning their relationships and families, I do not offer on-going couple/ marital/ family counselling. If you need this type of specialised counselling, I am able to refer you to experienced psychologists who have specialised in this field.
I also only work with adults, as I do not have play therapy facilities. I can, however, assist with referral to reputable and experienced psychologists who work with younger children.
