This practice will provide you with all the documents needed to assist you with claiming back from your medical aid scheme but clients are ultimately responsible for paying their bill. It is recommended that clients contact their medical aid scheme prior to the first consultation to ascertain the extent to which they will be reimbursed for psychological consultations, as annual limits and benefits vary considerably among medical aid schemes.
Cash clients are requested to bring the exact amount to the consultation as change is not usually kept on the premises. EFT payments are preferred and need to be made before the consultation (or immediately afterwards), to ensure payment is reflected in our account within 72 hours of the consultation to qualify for the discounted fee. Please email us proof-of-payment when paying by EFT. We do not accept payments by cheque, credit card or debit card at this time. Any late cash/ EFT payments will be charged at the full standard fee (i.e., the HealthMan fee).
Liaison with others (such as letters, reports, telephone calls to doctors/other health professionals, parents, teachers, insurance companies, employers, etc.) will be charged at the same fees used for consultations, where the actual fee depends on the time such activities takes the psychologist. Regrettably, no psychological services can be offered via SMS/ text/ social media.
If you need to cancel/ reschedule an appointment, please ensure that you do so within 24 hours of the consultation to avoid being charged a cancellation fee. This allows sufficient time for the appointment to be used by another client on our waiting list. If you do cancel late but we are able to fill the appointment for you, then there is no cancellation fee.
Clients are fully liable for any reasonable costs incurred in the collection of unpaid accounts. We also reserve the right to SMS/email your outstanding amount (and our banking details) to the cellphone numbers/email addresses you provide us with (including the Account Payer). If you wish to clarify anything, or request special payment arrangements, please telephone and/or email us, and we will do our best to assist you.
PLEASE NOTE:
This practice does not provide an “after-hours” or “emergency service”. Since a client usually requires medication and/or hospitalization in psychiatric emergency situations, it is more appropriate to contact your medical doctor (GP) or psychiatrist to assist you. Please keep their emergency numbers where you can find them easily. However, prompt face-to-face consultations can be arranged in urgent situations during normal office hours. If you are hospitalized, you can request that you be consulted in hospital (via your psychiatrist). However, the discounted rate will not apply for hospital consultations. Clients will be charged the applicable HealthMan rate (see above) or their medical aid scheme rate.
